This church, built in 1875, has gorgeous stone, but also stunning stain glass windows and standout red doors. We took our Christmas picture in front of these red doors two years ago. Another gem of a church in my town.</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_C1kxeZT4yYs/TWsQU7PUOzI/AAAAAAAALQs/vmjb8n4qwA4/s1600-h/IMG_9098%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_9098" border="0" alt="IMG_9098" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_C1kxeZT4yYs/TWsQVswMtPI/AAAAAAAALQw/D61s5sFYr7Q/IMG_9098_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="555" height="772"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_C1kxeZT4yYs/TWsQVz8si-I/AAAAAAAALQ0/r8vAgGncTpI/s1600-h/IMG_9099%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_9099" border="0" alt="IMG_9099" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_C1kxeZT4yYs/TWsQWE8b_9I/AAAAAAAALQ4/E0bqWCDd1tU/IMG_9099_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_C1kxeZT4yYs/TWsQWUGncSI/AAAAAAAALQ8/FpwcrBrnvdg/s1600-h/IMG_9102%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_9102" border="0" alt="IMG_9102" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_C1kxeZT4yYs/TWsQW2GM7yI/AAAAAAAALRA/TRfjbZ1F0AY/IMG_9102_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> The Dragonflyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12825999197593786030noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541941051219867576.post-48595284010568083322011-02-12T09:22:00.001-08:002011-02-12T09:22:24.013-08:00Week Four: Old Leesburg Post Office<p>We have two post offices in our town. One is newer, larger and closer to my house. The other is right across from the Historic Courthouse. I love everything about this building except for its parking situation. Old brick, beautiful architectural dentil molding, unique post boxes with greek key motif, vintage light fixtures – it’s a treat to mail a package there! And the staff is friendly and “small town. The building is about a hundred years old, which is new compared to many in our town, but I still love it. Enjoy</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizmDBST0un-j7sD107mXz3k6oilYsUF89ZH3H5VwYB2o000pxsa4BYMWrsh0IrrCpr_L5x8NC6k4-3x32BhLcdyqYUkzvtM4XYNwZQf4QD45DyCI5AOCSlwAFJDtYLqpnLbToRWxUpcu-f/s1600-h/postwindow%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtm9R6lozijPYl0iinzNtlAIUXvCXu_Qz3bfC_8nEcti4J9zidXVe_e5ltdDxzMswisITNiFkhAmSFmVmjpv2aAinbNoYhtFbiB1ZTOb3UQA4ZwMrqohFp5K33-x8FJczJWYrxbNRCjcqe/?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXIbSKbfQGsy257HkWz1kIfSlVKjA1eD6n2Jjs1aSz48QElqHm1NuA_LZexpjlV1nANbsD6ixWKrE3sZ1oYsKa9JvzVvt57cLjLOKRGoz4dKLv6Qz2xJzvv4sdxgkk1BptgqXGpRTyZDmo/s1600-h/IMG_8979%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_8979" border="0" alt="IMG_8979" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgYkisvg7SSRD7t2kEfInfRBu_IbKQI5_DFQNqWpj67QeN_lojC3wKVQbrv6u4VXDylpppN3-eNLjLs6lmW6W8AwTMWUi5b76KU2J2B03eldFU_2-cWLJ7CsqPLydoFCaSVIzKpHzg3VSE/?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKk-fl5kONqtRhy1ynp52IrVGbN877NME6tgCy1XQJ23DWdftVe_gbAogNIE_uZRVfbn432tJpSAiIf3uLDo_KLNCFsgofXOaGKqf0WjOOuDFF9cM3J1cC2aiyAhHNFiM3-3AQ0aQSMsWe/s1600-h/postdoor%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg52MfFNsTsB2-mgSw-3y9epqiywUFTo0f6fhXP4hqbW1MdLAHn1rI-e5HwIZ2sFPdryK4y66fgpEn4VppSb-W0wlpgm7no8ECRUmq199m7Kn-7RnJkAu3DCOGPxTsd6L2Zn-tDELYEBNBs/?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> The Dragonflyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12825999197593786030noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541941051219867576.post-30877064487698026142011-01-31T05:20:00.001-08:002011-01-31T05:20:23.470-08:00Week Three: St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church<p>A standout on a corner of King Street, this little church has been here since the 1800’s. I love to drive by it and admire its stained glass windows, weathered steeple and intricate architectural details. The parish is building a new, very large church across the street. I hope this little gem will still be adored and used when it’s all said and done.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjASQwIFoJI34cISyl5N14mMVCWgj5SqCpxMry8xIs6obPJfNayHU0HqdwvH5xfXStYHJZ1f91zzOBHIxZgSvJ44BPFVAXqWa-JYB5RjofExCLOVesE1XMTwMwYGrgHlU5VlQwxhrfpjMYr/s1600-h/window%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh4dRBah38tlKaO8fPhRJtKeekaK1vn1WATRjfMYTq1GWfG29XAw3aQ5CyQdN1GdtsqesPGJTHETJJzcgBBj2xcEVwgp1pqgjbxUnqD1xDOy8NEDXeSjGgzo5hReuuqZITfq4WE5QoHf4J/?imgmax=800" width="537" height="772"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIVO8w63OoDu_hsKQlHsuZL2PKxkZTnD4JgqbD0mPgctOa0PGF5RkZpFt9Vk1U-tc-luHJrr0SHaIz2HhOqrOW3BQAZAY9Fa0SStf4W-S_0uFidUGCHIagL2sJkAEBP5-MHn0vSrnIlrY6/s1600-h/steeple%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgor305ZfwfpdR0VTmqriBj_oCReDVH-cKRBKa7hBuXeD99DYdbL8MJz281K3dqhuwkbDPtpIx0ItIVRR-E-o0c0ncuokmBY94nExgI-p4vjasQuvzIxoB1wb4Hc3Ot7MpJ7DxWW3hVTEuZ/?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNQYGgN-9JA3uo204tNl4TB91jXrU6YOVJOFyRFmm3AjqFNNiFYJ7-mz3v02bCEHif9egjLLtRvttXdslB2svG7kGYuP5a0h8l53ooH52CCNR1s96-E1mJKqpH7rDeVsZghgLQVS_U40W3/s1600-h/church%5B5%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXZof6kVM6CVkcV_WzHVwnW-mDfXBHgfUeLz2z3QB8Hi4I7xiTpAlNiLdsoUdNg4ph-e-zFp_54N5yX7QXkR-xpE923S6YEUh3Vgpmy7YAOUMoBjVxDAIMp2ZNVUCqNMJ1T_X-hqTuK3BS/?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> The Dragonflyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12825999197593786030noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541941051219867576.post-25506155948560224432011-01-20T05:13:00.001-08:002011-01-20T05:15:03.283-08:00Union Cemetery at Sundown<p><font color="#666666">One thing we’ve got going for us here in Leesburg is a literal hotbed of Civil War era history. I’ve driven past the Union cemetery at least a thousand times on my way to the gym, library and piano lessons, but have never stopped to go in until yesterday. It is a serene and beautiful place with gravestones covered in moss bearing names from the 1800’s of men and women who lived during an uncertain time of our country’s history. Enjoy a few shots from the Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia.</font></p> <p><font color="#ccb400"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRn6OgZQkQhHFgqqRGd3lK-JcB6FWq4ewLWuZ9ojfBajXvjUPj2oi-grUPSMlEOypTtzQRCP3T6uCS-o3o9YS128U4ewWOdFmJwcc-nwNraAYxTCoOIukzTMU9KesOyFYEXyqk-A3-PEXb/s1600-h/mossy%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbRyDDIlS9blnj_-az-jRLq9QRIuv8NUQHaOorlRss1J7PiH6eQuym7R2ET7Oq1y47VftXdup4q3iBtHZFzlKnfvCtmOQfh9CJ7emR6bcnS1Oe1jNqw9LsUrnVPgw8aD31PB_O-OQ20ZWK/?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a> </font></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiX2PPwPIqQE8z_HqMCaEd0ur39gAjZLFbRj_St5PAAlDHSUC3X5laj9sJsXdD23NffcJMjnEBg6XE4ioLN0ovkgBtJSm4ZxwtQ4ITzGSDBHrR7FZtOn9iuku-ZiQQnuN31nC-_LPxgmYc/s1600-h/IMG_8887%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_8887" border="0" alt="IMG_8887" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmbteoOZBcR6mywH9cu1zaJIQobV6ipH8TfkAHavUmYmKoIi206RvF7XtIbjEKDJNTxy6mT_X7vmQ1-f_xYZTZN-jNqMntDeu-5na9zt-uVkEViG6AlDHmSjIhlI1wuhyBcsivhzZ7NDis/?imgmax=800" width="580" height="772"></a></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1SOJcg-13zlQTtZ0XMn-uJiSR2lzPphqX0ghpxtoR7Aa03kVL9qjrhjePWT8uueHzAGtKiNNdzVA-cFM0akKLD1xcVaDDvkTqib9HG8GfJGnnMzQDaPMf2kFi30tu4utW4ZNuV3YpHaWh/s1600-h/sunflare%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEY3Iqq5YqF29rOtQhRn3LvovvMT-fNsDgAfqY7GXc6Sw7FOMS4nSNP7QUMx6YHU32b6yxkWU9iS2QgmfYqIU1901BdDxLvRS0kTodJ4Z-TzsZSpkgPPsZ-cumfd4MZobkPFf3vkBSv00z/?imgmax=800" width="567" height="772"></a></p> <p><font color="#666666">And a bonus photo because this falcon was an ideal model, so I had to.</font></p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGgKiPR1D1Gd_UGECnyGmbfPtSwetYY5xLC8hZzkeuJxERHOFPH4hsjBmr_PrdZC1Cr3CSwv2_hjZeDPMP9trei4BUloEDpUscdqHKJKW12Me_bnCVUP1_zHbwzhJmguM14cZ8ObPiWO7G/s1600-h/hawk%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmVmou0SYfYYg0YN1mlchxeRG4ipgTnQywcRZoUoMBZLqwB7KLZRJ9RPREgPyddv6DYX7a3LmIZLV6vGAKvaM98GrHgNhRyLcxtWEHFJVruwLDYQt9GCQPNWOYRQa1m80egcvvz58db-uq/?imgmax=800" width="554" height="772"></a></p> The Dragonflyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12825999197593786030noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541941051219867576.post-77465002806021873392011-01-11T10:22:00.001-08:002011-01-11T11:08:37.131-08:00Week One: Greenway Farm Study<p><span style="color: #000000; font-size: 130%">This farm building, with it’s gorgeous worn wood, towering silo and combination of photo ready textures, greets me every time I enter and exit my neighborhood. Though it’s original windows have been replaced and half the metal roof blew off in a terrible wind storm a few years back, certain elements like crumbling brick covered in creeping vines are original to the structure.
